ApfelSrtudel

I don't know if its the pregnancy talking but I have this need to bake. I rather bake any day of the week than cook food. Baking is so much fun and it makes your kitchen smell sooo good! This week's recipe is the easiest thing I can come up with: ApfelStrudel.

I have to make a discourse here. I am, by no means, a good cook or baker. I have never really cooked and I tend to burn things and make things explode. But like I said it must be the fact that I will be mom and cooking is necessary. So you all will be witnesses of this apfelstrudel, I mean you can't go wrong with sugar and butter, right?

Here is what I used for TWO apfelstrudel, they are small tho.

A package of pie crust
I sliced two honey crisp apples really thin. Stick with only one or one and a half
Raisins
Butter, a little to grease the baking sheet and some to put inside the apfelstrudel

Sugar to taste
Cinnamon to taste
One egg to glaze it
My mom puts some nuts but I didn't have any.

Alright, butter the tray, lay the pie crust and start putting a layer of apples, raisins, a little of butter, sugar and cinnamon. Do this twice, then fold it like you are swaddling a baby *wink* glaze some of the egg on top of it so it burns nice and it gives a nice finish touch. With a fork poke it so the hot air will go inside and cook the apples and raisins, finish with sparkling some sugar. Bake it for around 30 minutes at 350. I did it like this so it would cook nicely instead of just burning the pie.

Holy smokes, it is good! The only thing I would try to fix next time is the dough tends to be a little dry and crumbly I prefer mine more moist. Maybe I just mine from scratch.

Starting from the beginning

This is mainly for my own entertainment. Putting on thoughts on "paper" always helps me to figure out a path in my life. So let us start from the beginning. I married this really wonderful guy that works his butt off to provide for me and our kitties. We met in college 6 years ago and have been married for 2. We started living in Arizona for 5 years, then moved to Fort Collins, Colorado and now we are in Cheyenne Wyoming. We have recently bought a house since we are expecting our first baby in February. I am currently employed full time and with no time for my house and my sanity. My hubby works about 60 hours a week so that leaves us with no time for ourselves and our sanity. We do try to make time for our relationship but sometimes it involves going to the groceries really late at night. So it is not that romantic but still fun because I love him.

When the baby arrives I would really love to stay home and take care of my baby for the first year, but if I see that the bills are killing us I probably go back after 6 months and work part time. This decision brings A LOT of worries, "how are we going to pay the bills?, are we gonna make it?, what if we can't? should we sell one car?, babies are expensive!" I figured that if I can bring home at least $500 a month we could easily make it through. So I started looking into options to make money from home. There is a lot of selling this, that and the other but I never saw myself as that kind of person. Even though I work selling stuff and I must admit I am pretty good at it, I just don't see myself making a living out of selling the nowadays novelties.

I always saw myself as my own boss, taking care of business, you know? I thought about starting my own international business by either exporting goods from Mexico or doing translations or even selling the novelties. So I guess this is what this blog will take you and me, a trip into what a new mom will do to help her hubby pay the bills and try to survive with a newborn.

Until then...

Wedding 101

You only get married once.. at least I will. And if this is your first time you probably have no clue of what you are supposed to be doing and how you must do it. Let me tell you how I have experienced this wedding grandeur event.

First you are all excited about what's to come... The Dress!!! Let's admit it almost all of us dream of the perfect dress, then the bridesmaid dresses and our bridal party, the rings, the ceremony, the reception, the favors, the honeymoon! Am I missing something?... Duh!! The Groom!!! First thing in the list.
                1. This is HIS wedding too

Now lets move on the topic which our favorite... The dress, oh my gosh! You have a bazillion gazillion options up there. My advice try at least 5 that you really like and choose upon those five, why? if you keep looking and looking you will only get confused and overwhelmed and you will not know which one fitted you better. So second on the list.

               2. Try at least 5 dresses and decide!

Now let us be serious girls, bridesmaid dresses.... it has been a nightmare for me! If you believe in modesty this is going the be toughest thing ever, start looking NOW as soon as possible. Also look for the option to have then made for each of your girls.

                3. Look for bridesmaid dresses ASAP

If you are short on money... welcome to the club. I have zero nothing money and I am making my way through it. It is hard but is possible. A lot of times I just want to iloop, sound easier and faster and cheaper, but oooh stupid society has taught us that we need a wedding! Oh well, let's face it we want a  beautiful big wedding, with lots of guests and good food. Wake up chicky! you are gonna have to humble yourself and work with what you have. Fourth on the list

                4. Decorations

You have some awesome resources like:

*Pinterest (follow me and see my wedding board)
*Dollar store
*Hobby Lobby
*Amazon
*efavormarket.com
and *Pinterest again

If your fiance wants to be part of  this.. LET HIM BE PART OF IT! it is your day as much as its his.

DO NOT fight for material stuff.... fight and argue about how many kids you guys will have and when.

Next on my list I would say is the rings. Because they tend to be expensive and the rings are really important to me so we wanted to get pretty ones. Now I understand you wanna have the ultimate bling and big stones... girls this is a burden for you fiance, he only wants to give you the best. Help him and help yourself and look for rings that in your budget. Maybe you can get some financial aid from the jewelry store. And save money so the down payment  would be big and then you don't have to worry as much to paid them of, or however is paying for the rings

                5. Ring hunt (remember... down to earth)

There are way more to write. I will add numbers as the planning progresses. Thank you for taking the time and write comments if you have better ideas.

Peace out!

Wax day

Ok girls today I had a serious intervention of wax day... I waxed my mustache, eyebrows and chin... it is actually kind of awkward to talk about it but this happens ok? I don't know how many of you girls wax yourself, if you don't I would encourage you to do so you save a lot of money. Ok so after I was done I always have the problem that I have some wax on my face and it is all sticky and it can become a mess so easily. So I am ready to share how you can get rid of it.

  1. Once you are done waxing, take a piece of cotton and add some baby oil, make up removes works too, and even some thick lotion. Rub it softly until almost all of it its gone
  2. If you still have it take a warm shower, the steam and the hot water will help to get the wax off. Or wash you wash your face with warm water and a cloth.
  3. After all this is done make sure you hydrate the area.

Dress Make Over

Story of this dress: I absolutely love this dress but it was just a little too short so I unpicked the hem but it was still short. Sometimes the girls from the dorms give away some clothes so I found this skirt that was a size two and I am so not a size two but I thought, "If I can only add this to my dress it would give the perfect length.

Step

  1. I cut the skirt and took away the zipper
  2. Pinned the skirt all along the dress' waist
  3. Sewed it all
  4. YEAH

It wasn't to hard and I think it looks great

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nails, nails nails

Here is another quick idea of how to do your nails

1. Green first
2. Silver pinkie
3. Dots on top the green.

Note: To do the dots take a pencil and stab pin, use the flat side

------------------------------------------------------------------

En espanol!

1. Aplica verde
2. Plateado en el dedo menique
3. Puntos encima del verde

Nota: Para hacer los puntos del mismo tamano, toma un lapiz y clava en la goma un alfiler y con la parte plana haces los puntos.
